An
officially authorized shrine in the Engi period, the deities enshrined
here are Sotsuhiko Nagae and Kotoshironushi. When the shrine was established
as the local shrine in 1872, it served the old village of Nagayoshi, as
well as Uriwari, Ega, Taisho, and Fujiidera. Nowadays it serves only the
area immediately surrounding Nagayoshi. At the time of the siege of Osaka
[in 1615], it is said that Yukimura Sanada made an offering here at Shiki
Nagayoshi Shrine of his regimental standard and prayed for victory; the
flag still remains.
