For ordinary wastewater Basic charge Up to 10 m3 550 yen × 1.05 = 577 yen
Charge for excess volume (per 1 m3) 11 m3- 20 m3 61 yen (61 yen × water volume - 60 yen) × 1.05
21 m3- 30 m3 83 yen (83 yen × water volume - 500 yen) × 1.05
31 m3- 50 m3 103 yen (103 yen × water volume - 1,100 yen) × 1.05
51 m3-100 m3 119 yen (119 yen × water volume - 1,900 yen) × 1.05
101 m3- 200 m3 136 yen (136 yen × water volume - 3,600 yen) × 1.05
201 m3-500 m3 159 yen (159 yen × water volume - 8,200 yen) × 1.05
501 m3- 1,000 m3 180 yen (180 yen × water volume - 18,700 yen) × 1.05
1,001 m3- 5,000 m3 215 yen (215 yen × water volume - 53,700 yen) × 1.05
5,001 m3 or more 234 yen (234 yen × water volume - 148,700 yen) × 1.05
For bathhouses Basic charge Up to 10 m3 550 yen × 1.05 - 577 yen
Charge for excess volume 11m3 or more
( per 1m3)
18 yen (18 yen × water volume + 370 yen) × 1.05
The amount calculated with the formula is rounded down to the nearest one yen.

Sewerage charges in major cities
Here is Osaka City's scheme of sewerage charges: 577 yen up to 10 m3; beyond 10 m3, the larger the water volume used, the higher the unit price. The volume of water consumed by an ordinary household per month is approx. 20 m3, which translates into 1,218 yen in sewerage charges. This means that the sewerage charge is lowest among major cities (23 wards in Tokyo and government-ordinance-designated cities).
