Establishment of the Waterworks Technology Center

The Waterworks Bureau established the Waterworks Technology Center in October 1990, with a view to enhancing the knowledge and service skills of its technical personnel and passing down Osaka City’s long-accumulated waterworks technologies.
This facility is mainly used for practical training for pipe laying and water leak repairs. The training aims to pass on waterworks technologies to future generations by having current employees train newly hired employees or those who have been newly assigned to technical duties.

Practical training curriculum

• • Connecting pipes
  (a) Rinsing wastewater and infusing sodium hypochlorite into the pipes
  (b) Measuring flow and water pressure, detecting water leakage
• • Water leak repairs
• • Water service installation work
  (a) Making holes on snap taps and saddles
  (b) Laying and repairing service pipes
• • Lecture on emergency water supply service
