The main text follows.
The Waterworks Bureau has conducted joint research for the application of state-of-the-art technologies and know-how possessed by private companies, and we have achieved a number of substantial results.
Today, with a view to ensuring greater transparency and fairness of administration, we are required to disclose information about joint research more widely to the public, and to provide equal joint research opportunities while introducing technologies from a wider range of sources for joint research. It is to this end that we established the “Osaka City Waterworks Bureau Guidelines for Joint Research for Technical Development Ein July 2001, which specifies the procedures for announcing joint research themes to the public, inviting applicants for joint research publicly, and selecting research partners from among applicants.
In line with the “Osaka City Waterworks Bureau Guidelines for Joint Research for Technical Development, Ewe conducted the joint research project outlined below. We also conducted joint research with private companies as part of the “e-Water EProject (for the development of water purification technologies to reduce environmental impacts)* led by the Japan Water Research Center, in which we offered our purification plant for use as research field. (project period: March 2003 to March 2005)
*) e-Water Project (development of water purification technologies to reduce environmental impacts)
The project aimed to develop new technologies for both the improvement of existing water facilities as well as for the construction of new facilities to help realize a more environmentally-friendly society. Research for the development of water purification technologies to reduce environmental impacts was conducted to achieve five goals including establishment of energy-saving water purification systems and efficient use of water in water purification systems.
(project period: three years commencing from FY2002)
