Improved Services for Customers in Apartment Buildings

E!E/strong> Scope of Separate Metering and Storage in Private Apartment Buildings Expanded!

Until recently, the system for separate metering and storage for individual apartments in private apartment buildings only applied if there were more than 14 apartments in each building and specific conditions were met. However, we have received numerous requests to expand the scope of the system. In light of this situation, as one aspect of our policy of improving customer services, since April 2008 this system is now available if there are at least two apartments in a building. In public mid-to-high-rise apartment buildings, separate metering and storage have already been available for individual apartments in all buildings, and this system will be continued.

E!E/strong> Requirement to Install Centralized Meter Boxes (remote display meters) Abolished!

Until recently, the installation of centralized meter boxes (remote display meters) had been a condition for separate metering and storage for individual apartments in private apartment buildings containing 70 or more apartments. In light of the fact that their installation and maintenance involve significantly high costs that must be borne by customers, however, in April 2008 we abolished the obligation to install centralized meter boxes (remote display meters). An application must be submitted in advance for centralized meter boxes to be removed, and confirmation obtained that this will not impede the operation of separate metering and storage.

3. Waterworks Bureau Will Manage Individual Apartment Meters in Condominium Buildings!
Until recently, customers have borne the cost of the maintenance and management of meters in individual apartments within apartment buildings (condominiums), including their replacement at the end of their operational lifespan. Since April 1, 2008, at the request of customers (owners), the Waterworks Bureau will take over the maintenance and management of meters in individual apartments in condominium buildings that meet the following conditions.

    • Main conditions for Waterworks Bureau management
    • (a) Must be a condominium building.
    • (b) Separate metering and storage for individual apartments must already be in place.
    • (c) Meters in individual apartments must have at least a year of their operational lifespan left to run, calculated from the date of application, and must be working normally.

    Notes
◁EAlthough guidelines and application forms have changed, we are continuing to implement separate metering and storage in apartment buildings to which the previous system applied, so there is no need to resubmit a new application form.
◁EApplications entail an on-site inspection and other administrative procedures, so it takes some time after an application is received for it to be approved. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this point.
◁EApplications have been accepted since April 1, 2008.
