Bank Transfer: An Easy Way to Pay Your Water Bills

By choosing to pay by bank transfer, your water bill will be automatically deducted from the account of your choice on the designated day. It’s really convenient to do it this way, because it means you don’t have to make extra trips to the bank.
Please try using our convenient bank transfer service to pay your water and sewage bills.
Note: In addition to the last amount transferred, you will be informed the water consumption amount and amount of the next bill in the “Water Use Notice” when the meter is read.

New Bank Transfer Applications

The following are four ways to apply.
* May not be available from some financial institutions.

(1) Apply at the service counter of your financial institution. Bring the following to your financial institution (bank, Japan Post Bank, credit union, credit association, agricultural cooperative, labour bank).
○ A recent water bill receipt or other document that shows your customer number
○ Your passbook
○ Your personal seal used for your account (Be sure to bring the correct seal)
As the bank transfer form, use the one provided by your financial institution.
* Applications can also be submitted to a nearby Waterworks Bureau service office or service station

(2) Contact the Customer Center to have a bank transfer form and return envelope sent to you.

(3) Download a bank transfer form from the below link and send it by post to the Waterworks Bureau (mailing cost not included).

Note that the Japan Post Bank cannot be used with the downloaded bank transfer form.

(4) For customers who have already registered for online banking with the following financial institutions, apply for bank transfer from the online banking page. (Enter your customer number for the ‘customer number’ column. No personal seal needed.)

* This service may not be available to corporations.

* Applications are processed more quickly at your financial institution service counter than through the Waterworks Bureau. * Please note that it may take up to 2 months from submitting your application until bank transfer payment begins. You will be notified when the process has completed by a “Notice of Start of Bank Transfer” postcard. * For new customers, you will receive a payment notice until your application has been processed. * Until your application has been processed, you will receive a payment notice. Contact our Customer Center for details.

 

Procedure for Changing your Financial Institution or Account Details

Changing your currently registered account (below, “current account”) requires the same procedure as new applying to use the bank transfer system. Until the start date written on the “Notice of Start of Bank Transfer for Water Bills” that will be delivered to you after the registration process is complete, payments will be transferred from your current account.
If you wish to immediately cancel transfer from your current account, please contact the Customer Center.
Please note that no procedures are necessary for mergers, name changes, and branch consolidations of financial institutions.

 

Designated Transfer Date

Bank transfers will be made on the following dates, depending on the date your meter is read.
Your meter will be inspected on the same business day each month (varies for each customer).
(Meter readings may sometimes take place during New Years’ holidays, Golden Week, or during other holidays.)

Inspection dates and designated transfer dates are written on the Water Use Notice given to you when the meter is read.

If a bank transfer date falls on a banking holiday, the transfer will be made on the following business day. * Business days are: Days when the Waterworks Bureau is open, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and New Years’ holidays (December 29 to January 3).

 

Continuing Bank Transfer Payments after Moving to another Place within the City

When you move within Osaka City (the area supplied by the city), you can continue to use the bank transfer system for water and sewage bills with your new address. Contact your nearest Waterworks Bureau Customer Center with the account number for your old address handy to complete the changeover procedure.
Continuing payments is not possible in certain cases. Please contact the Customer Center for details.

 

Credit Cards

Credit cards cannot be used to pay water and sewage bills.
