| @ There were few medical facilities in Osaka
in the 20th year of Meiji. To meet the situation,
Ogata Yuijun and Takahashi Masazumi played
a central role to run a hospital for the
needy by organizing Jikeikai (a charity institution).
Jikeikai started their medical activity at
Enkoji temple (Karamono-cho, Chuo-ku) and
moved several times before coming to the
present site here in the 13th year of Taisho,
later was transferred under the authority
of Osaka municipal administration, but was
burned to ashes by the War in the 20th of
Shouwa. It is predecessor of the present
hospital attached to the Kousaiin and it
contributed a lot for social welfare. |
