Suigan, whose name as a layman is Sumiyoshiya Tarouemon, was born around here in the middle of the Edo period He was naturally a man of benevolence, so he later contributed a lot, fixing and constructing roads and bridges or so, for welfare of the people as a charitable person. According to a historic document, he constructed eleven stone bridges between the first year Kyohou (1716) and the 5th year of Genbun (1740). The Suiganbashi bridge crossing over a flood-control channel of the Hiranogawa river was named after him and the land contributed by him at that time is now under management of Nakagawa-cho Zaisanku (ward for preservation of property). He was dead in the 2nd year of Enkyo (1745).
