@The Emperor Tenmu is enshrined in this
shrine. At first this shrine was called Tenmutennogu
or Shoji (a local land name) jinja and later
named the Kiyomihara jinja shrine because
the Imperial Palace was situated at Yamato
Kiyomihara in the reign of Tenmu. We are
able to find the name of a place "Yoshinomi"
(thinking of Yoshino in the distance) According
to legend, when Tenmu was going to Naniwa
he took a rest here and he thought of the
days of Yoshino in the distance. There are
three Roads running through around here,
Kitayaokaido, Nakakoyakaido, and Shuntokukaido,
and we find an old appearance of the winding
path along the old Road. |
