| @A Goushi named Ueba Matasaburo lived around here. Goushi are those who were usually engaged in agriculture but when a battle took place they became soldiers. He became a believer in Buddhism sect of the preacher Rennyo (1415-1499) and founded this temple in the 2nd year of Cyokyo (1488). There is a story of the author Saikaku titled "Wankyu-his life story". Wankyu is a merchant named Wanya Kyuemon who spent money in a royal style and was imprisoned by the Tokugawa shogunate. Saikaku wrote his life story in the 2nd year of Jokyo (1685). There remains Wankyu's family register of deaths and bowls contributed by him in this temple. | |
