This temple was founded by Kusunoki Masanaga, who was born as a grandson of Masashige (?-1336). He lived around here and later entered the Buddhist priesthood in the 19th year of Ouei (1412) to found this temple and prayed for the repose of his Kusunoki family's soul. There remains a wooden statue of Masanaga's in the temple. He was dead in the 2nd year of Ounin (1468) at 97.
