| @Hatakeyama Masanaga was one of the three
assistants of the Muromachi shogunate. A
dispute about the succession of his family
was a cause of the War of Onin. The War was
over after eleven years and Kyoto was burned
to ashes. However, the conflict between Masanaga
and the same family Yoshinari, his son Motoie
continued in the Kinki district. When Masanaga
kept his main camp at the Shokakuji temple,
he was counterattacked and defeated by Motoie
and was obliged to kill himself (the battle
of Shokakuji). Shokakuji had a grand appearance
of building at that time but was burned to
ashes by the battle. |
