Kumata jinja (Shrine)
  1, 2-chome, Hirano Miyamachi, Hirano-ku
[ Hirano ] by JR  about 100m to the southeast
It is the origin of this shrine when Susanono-Mikoto was enshrined by Sakanoue Todo (a son of Hironomaro) in the third year of Jokan (862). The main building is composed of 3. The second and third of it were founded in the 10th year of Eisho (1513), the Muromachi period and these are both important cultural monuments designated by Osaka Prefecture. There is a place for composing renga (linked poem) in the precincts, which was destroyed in the Winter Siege and later reerected in the 5th year of Hoei (1708). Practices composing renga occurred in the Heian period and prevailed especially in this shrine as a yearly ritual ceremony because of its familiar relations with Kuge (court nobles) Such a thing reminds us of prosperous cultural activities of the medieval period in the Kumata province. There are a lot of camphor trees in the precincts and one of them is more than 600 years old, designated as a natural monument by Osaka Prefecture.
