| @Sakanoue Hironomaro is a son of Tamuramaro who is famous for the conquest of Ezo district (Hokkaido) in the early years of the Heian period (around 800). Hironomaro ruled and lived here until he died. It is said that Hirano is a corrupted form of Hirono. The residence of the Sakanoue family was successively at the site of Chohoji temple which is situated at 3-chome, Hirano Hommachi and it continued until the end of the Meiji era. There were seven distinguished families derived from the same family who ruled here by dividing the province. One of them is the Sueyoshi family who was engaged in the Goshuinsen trade around the Southeast Asia which was trading by an authorized ship named Sueyoshibune with a sealed letter issued by a shogun and the other is the Tsuchihashi family which was famous for contributing to the foundation of Gansuido (private school) and the Nariyasu family which was famous for constructing the Dotonbori canal. Thus the families were prosperous together with the Hirano province. | |
