| @In the turbulent age, Hirano province was a community encircled by canal for self defence. The gate ways were respectively provided for guard with a gate, gatehouse, jizodo (a place where Jizo is installed). There were thirteen gateways and the Hinojiriguchi Gate was a gate toward Yaokyuhooji. When there was an epidemic of cholera in the 12th year of Meiji, these gates were closed to restrict passers-by. Since then the gates were removed. | |||||
