| @Akaruhimeno-Mikoto is enshrined in this
shrine. This shrine is commonly called 30
bu-jinja. People around here suffered from
a drought in the years of the Ouei era (1394-1428).
When people prayed for rain by chanting
the Hokke Sutra 30 times, their prayer was
answered by God. 30 bu means 30 volumes of
the sutra. But according to another legend,
30 bu (volumes) jinja is said to be a corrupted
form of 30 bu (size of land, 1 bu is 3954sq
yds) This district was once the site of an
administrative office which was under the
ownership of Kitanomandokoro, the formal
wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. |
