| @There was a priest named Dosho. While training
himself around here, he perceived an spiritual
image of Tenjin (Sugawara Michizane), so
he broke a gourd to offer to Tenjin. This
is the origin of the place's name of Uriwari.
It is said that Uriwari was a birthplace
of Dosho. He went over to Tang Dynasty China
with a Japanese envoy in the 4th of Hakuchi
(653) and was taught by Genjyo Sanzo. After
coming back home, he wandered from place
to place and was adored by people, according
to the historical document Shokunihonki. |
