| From a long time ago the Imagawa river
was running voluminously from the Sayamaike
pond toward north to meet the Hiranogawa
river and was used for irrigation . The river
was cut off from the source and got short
of the quantity of water because of the replacement
construction of the Yamatogawa river in the
first year of Houei ( 1704 ). The Jusangengawa river was dug for transport of vessel and drainage after the reconstruction of the Yamatogawa river . But the rivers lost their function in recent years , so people suffered from water shortage and its pollution . To meet the situation a little stream was revived and was supplied with a place of recreation and relaxation of the citizens in each of the rivers. The stream of the Imagawa is introduced by the third treated sewage of the Hirano Sewage Treatment Plant , of the Jusangengawa by the purified water of the Yamatogawa river . Arrangements are made so that a little stream run through natural stones and under a little bridge and a public walk . A lot of trees are planted so that the environment of the rivers is kept good . The Hosoegawa river had an appearance of pond or marshy place in the north of the Sumiyoshi Shrine . It was called Asazawaono , which was famous for its irises . We are able to find a poem of the scene contained in the Manyoshu . The purified water of the Hirano Sewage Treatment Plant is discharged from the upper stream of the river . " The zone of Manyo " " The zone of play " and " the zone of four seasons " are situated , where a monument of poem is arranged in connection with the Manyoshu and irises are planted |
