The Sumiyoshijinguji was such remains of confusion of Shintoism and Buddhism that was founded in almost all the famous shrines in the Heian period . It is said that this temple was founded in the 2 nd year of Tenpyo Houji (758) and was counted among the three big temples -Tsumori (abolished ) , Shougonjodoji in Sumiyoshi district . This temple was abolished by the decree of separation of the Shintoism and the Buddhism in the first years of the Meiji era . A lot of famous , secret Buddhist images and treasures were scattered lost at that time but the West Pagoda of those treasures was sold and moved to the Kirihataji temple in Tokushima Prefecture and it remains now .
