@The Emperor Gomurakami (1328 -1368 ) often made an Imperial visit to the Sumiyoshi Shrine in the Period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties .He moved from Yoshino ( Nara Prefecture ) to this site in the 7 th year of Shokei (in the first year of Bunna 1352 ) and lived temporarily as his palace at Shoinden which was situated within the residence of a Shinto priest , Tsumori ) Afterwards the site became a center of trying to get the sovereignty of the Southern Dynasty and was used as a temporary palace for 9 years before he died in the 23 rd year of Shohei ( the first year of Ouan ,1368 ), so the Emperor Chokei succeeded him and moved again to Yoshino .
