Sumiyoshifs 3 Gods and Taketoyohazurawakeo
who was an ancestor of a powerful family
in the district of Yosami, Abiko are enshrined
in this shrine This district was in the domain
of the Imperial Court , so developed in the
early times . According to the historical
record Nihonshoki , we read in the passage
of the 62 nd of the Emperor Sujin that the
Yosami Pond was constructed . The Pond had
an area of about 1 kilometer and was used
for irrigation for a long time . But the
Pond was divided and reduced because of the
reconstruction of the Yamatogawa river in
the first year of Hoei (1704 )and we are
not able to find its trace .
