Janjan Alley is a popular shopping arcade located in Shinsekai. This arcade retains the atmosphere of the Showa Period (1926-1989), and there are many restaurants and shops, including Japanese style pubs, kushikatsu (deep-fried meat and vegetables served on bamboo skewers) and places for playing go and shogi (Japanese chess), stand side by side. Recently, many elaborate events to attract young couples have been held here.
