In the center of Chishima Park stands a hill 35m above sea level from which one can see the harbor. From its peak the Rokko mountains, Minato Ohashi and Namihaya Ohashi look so close you could reach out and touch them, making this spot blessed by nature a place of relaxation for ward residents. It is a man-made mountain created from about 1.70 million cubic meters (570,000 truck loads) of soil left over from the hasty subway construction work in preparation for Expo'80. |
