The
Yamato River is an extension of the Hatsuse River, which flows through
Nara Prefecture. The Yamato begins where the Kamenose River, which flows
through the craggy peaks of the Ikoma and Kongo mountain ranges, ends.
The river originally flowed north from the Ishikawa confluence point (in
Kashiwara City), where it joined the Shirinashi and Kizu rivers. However,
in 1704, the river was reconfigured to its present course. Approximately
1 km of the broad riverside area running east-west between Abiko Ohashi
Bridge and the JR Hanwa Line tracks features tennis courts, sports fields,
and a year-round flower plaza. |
