This slope climbs east from the end of Matsuyamachi-suji, the so-called "Gappo-ga-tsuji" to the west gate of Shitenno-ji Temple. There are a number of versions of how this slope got its name, from its similarity to the Ousaka-no-seki ( a barrier station between independent fiefs) to the similarity of the name to a comparison of the beliefs held by Prince SHOTOKU and MONONOBE-no-Moriya known as Gappo-ga-tsuji.
