Preserved Silva/Trees
Preserved trees are called "green cultural assets." They are designated preserved trees in Osaka City that maintain the beauty of nature and the environment. Types and ages of these trees are varied, but they are old and huge trees taller than 15 meters and/or with trunks of more than 1.5 meters in circumference. Preserved silva groves require the area of clustered leaves to be larger than 500 m2. Currently, there are 19 preserved silva and 70 individually preserved trees in 35 locations. In Tsurumi Ward, the following are designated as preserved silva and trees.
All of these silva and trees are wonderful natural features. Such solidly rooted examples of nature give us comfort and power to go on.
Preserved Silva (Designated on June 15, 1994. 1,450 m2)
One designated preserved silva in this ward is in the precincts of Hie Shrine at 5-chome in Imazunaka. Six camphor trees, three hackberry, two ilex and two holm oaks are included in this designation. Some of these trees are presumed to be several hundred years old.
The entire shrine is enclosed by the branches and leaves of these trees. The greenery also forms a landmark for pilots, who frequently come to the shrine to pay their respects.
