Specified Medical Checkups and Specified Health Guidance (特定健康診査・特定保健指導について)

Osaka City offers “Specified Medical Checkups” and “Specified Health Guidance” services to those enrolled in the National Health Insurance Program of Osaka City to prevent development and aggravation of lifestyle-related diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension. If you are eligible, be sure to take the “Specified Medical Checkup” annually to maintain good health.

Specified Medical Checkups (特定健康診査)

1 Eligibility (対象者)

Among those enrolled in National Health Insurance as of April 1 every year, those aged 40 to 74 years old (including those who become 40 years old by March 31, the next year).

*特定健康診査受診券 (Tokutei Kenko Shinsa Jushinken or Specified Medical Checkup Coupon) will be sent to the eligible persons by the end of April.

2 Location (実施場所)

Specified Medical Checkups are offered at: designated medical institutions in Osaka Prefecture; Public Health and Welfare Centers in Osaka City; and local elementary schools and other facilities when group medical checkups are conducted.

【What to bring】

  • 大阪市特定健康診査受診券 (Osaka Shi Tokutei Kenko Shinsa Jushinken or Specified Medical Checkup Coupon) of Osaka City.
  • 大阪市国民健康保険被保険者証(保険証) (Osaka Shi Kokumin Kenko Hoken Hihokenshasho (Hokensho) or National Health Insurance Certificate of Osaka City )
  • 大阪市特定健康診査個人票 (Osaka Shi Tokutei Kenko Shinsa Kojinhyo or Specified Medical Checkup Personal Card of Osaka City)
  • Result of the previous year’s medical checkup (if you have)

3 Service (内容)

  • Basic examination (free of charge)
    This includes body measurements, blood pressure measurements, blood tests, urine tests, and general examination.
  • In-depth examination (free of charge)
    This includes anemia tests, electrocardiogram examinations, and fundus examinations.

Note: In-depth examination is provided when the results of the last year’s Specified Medical Checkup meet the prescribed criteria and when the doctor determines that in-depth examination is necessary.

Specified Health Guidance (特定保健指導)

People who have been judged to need improvement of lifestyle as a result of the Specified Medical Checkup can use the Specified Health Guidance. If you receive the Specified Health Checkup in a medical institution where the Specified Health Guidance service is handled, explanation result of the checkup you received and the Specific Health Guidance Service are conducted at the same occasion. For people other than these people, 特定保健指導利用券 (Tokutei Hokenshido Riyoken or Specified Health Guidance Coupon) is sent to them in two or three months after the Specified Medical Checkup. When you receive this coupon, please try to use the Specified Health Guidance service.
