(Outline of the summary statement)
- Aquapolises in the 21st century are confronted by multilayered issues in securing adequate water supply, in addition to ensuring safe water quality, and it is necessary for us to change the attitudes of the public by encouraging collaboration among local residents and other communities.
- An aquapolis should be a city with a highly developed affinity for water; therefore we should aim to create such a city. I would like to propose the term "affinity for water."
- In order to develop "affinity for water," it is it is necessary for us to consider ways of sharing water-related technologies among cities on an international basis, and to demonstrate the attractiveness of each aquapolis, by making use of individual characteristics while competing with each other.
- Moreover, it is important for us to promote national and regional collaboration, which will also lead to cooperation and coordination among governments and between governments and the public sector, so as to create cities with an "affinity for water."
- Through such endeavors, the respective aquapolises should enhance their attractiveness and take action while disseminating their knowledge, expertise and ethics to other countries around the world.
