Shorenji (Temple)
   4, 6-chome ,Denpo, Konohana-ku
[ Nishijima 2-chome ] by bus, about 150m to the south
This temple was founded by Shoren Nippo in the 2nd year of Kanei(1625), who lived in a small heritage.
Once this temple had a cathedral of seven regular buildings and was counted among the 25 distinguished temples in Osaka. But later those buildings were perished by fire and earthquake and thus remains a main building founded in the 7th year of Meiji.
Kawasegaki which was an annual mass for the repose of the dead in the Shorenji river used to be held from the 6th year of Kyoho(1721) and was so crowded with faithful people as compared with those spectators in Tenjin Matsuri Funatogyo(a rite of crossing a stream carrying the divine spirit).
The Kawasegaki is now held in the Yodogawa river on the 26th of August.
