The prominent priest Jiunsonja was born around here at the warehouse of Takamatsu-clan in the 3rd year of Kyohou(1718). He entered the Buddhist priesthood at the Hourakuji temple(Higashi  Sumiyoshi-ku) aged 13 and trained himself in the Kinki region.
He studied not only Buddhism but also Confucianism by Ito Togai.
He intended that Buddhism of those days should be restored to the time of Buddha, so he interpreted the Sutras by the original text of Sanskrit without other interpretations.
He studied Sanskrit and wrote 10 volumes of the Bongakushinryo, which is now said to be a wonder of the world.
Juzen Hougo was one of his famous works.
He studied Shintoism too and he died in the first year of Bunka(1804).
