In the Edo era rice trade was first made on the street of Kitahama, along the shore of Tosabori River, where Kurayashiki(warehouse)was standing in a row.  The founder of it was said the merchant Yodoya‡U named Koan, so people called it "Yodoyano Komeichi", or a rice trade market of Yodoya.  But later it was moved to Dojima because of a traffic jam and a measure for the promotion of Dojimashinchi (newly developed district )(the 10th year of Genroku,1697).  The reason of the move was partly because of the ruin of Yodoya by the Shogunate and because of its unofficial nature among exchange dealers.  Later a rice exchange market was recognized officially in the 15th year of Kyohou(1730), where the market price of it became a standard price of the country.
