Monument of Tsurunochaya
   8-6, Chayamachi, Kita-ku
[ Umeda ] by Midosuji Line, about 300m to the north
There were 3 tea-houses named Tsuru, Hagi, Kuruma standing in line around here in the middle term of Meiji.
In the 22nd year of Meiji, 8cornered, 9storied building named Ryounkaku was constructed, which was rarely high in those days, and became popular.
There's something of a trace now of its former days in the rear of the street.
The Chugoku Road starting from Koraibashi to Shimonoseki by way of Nishiyodogawa-ku was running through at the front of the monument and the winding road at the front of Tsunashiki tenjinsya reminds us of its former days.
