| The Emperor Saga and Sugawara Michizame
are enshrined. This shrine is familiar with people named Kitanotenjin. It is said that Minamotono Touru founded it for the remembrance of his father, the Emperor Saga. Legend has it that Michizane visited this shrine on his way to Dazaifu (Kyusyu district) and could not leave here for the beautiful scenery of ume blossoms, so he enjoyed he view for some time sitting on his vessel's rope, Tsuna. |
