The temple belongs to Nichirensyu sect. It's unknown when the temple was founded.
The cathedral which was reconstructed in the 44th year of Meiji survived the War.
There is a tomb of a harlot named "Kashiku".
She was almost always obedient except when she was drunk.
In the 2nd year of Kanen (1749) her elder brother advised her not to drink but she was beside herself with rage and hurt him to death.
 She was sentenced to death.
While being taken around the street as an example to others, she wanted a piece of deep-fried tofu cutlet to smooth down her hair and was killed.
This event was dramatized soon and got popular.
There was a rumor going around that some people suffering from drunkenness would be cured by drinking small pieces of her tomb's stone, so the temple was crowded with people.
