The site of Kawasaki Toshogu (Shrine)   
    24, 1-chome, Temma, Kita-ku
[ Higashitemma ] by bus, about 150m to the west
 Matsudaira Tadaakira, who became the lord of Osaka Castle after the Summer Siege (Natsu no Jin, the first year of Genna,1615), founded this shrine in the 3rd year of Genna.
 Tokugawa Ieyasu died the previous year.
 Toshogu is a shrine in which Tokugawa Ieyasu was enshrined.
 The shogunate erected Toshogu shrine in various districts that had been remembered in connection with the Tokugawa Family, especially in Osaka they had an intention of trying to wipe out memories of the Toyotomi Family.
 The ritual of the shrine named Gongensai festival was held annually on the 17th of April. For five days before and after the ritual  became the most and crowded festival in Osaka.
 This shrine was once burned to ashes and later constructed.
 The Choshu clan (Yamaguchi district) took up it as their main camp in the Boshin battle.
 This shrine was abolished in the 6th year of Meiji.
 The warehouse of the portable shrine and stone lanterns are kept in the precinct of the Temmangu shrine.
