Monument in memory of the Yodogawa River improvement work

in front of the Yodogawa Construction Office of the Construction and Transport Ministry
[ Nagarahigashi ] by bus, about 300m to the north
 People had often suffered from flooding of the Yodogawa river since ancient times.
 Above all the flood in the 18th year of Meiji hit hard blow to developing Osaka and its outskirts.
 There was much urgency about the improvement work, so measurement was set about in the 29th year of Meiji.
 The difficult work was completed in the 42th year of Meiji regardless of an interval of the Japanese-Russo War.
 The details of the work are inscribed in the monument.
