[ Higashinoda ] by bus about 300m to the northwest
Amaterasu-Omikami is enshrined. It's unknown when this shrine was founded.
People around here including the shrine often suffered from flooding of the Yodogawa river.
This shrine had often moved before being founded here in the 6th year of Horeki(1756).
The multitude of cherry trees were planted on the grounds, as the name indicated (sakura means cherry blossom), so it was famous for its beautiful scenery.
The big flood of the Yodogawa river in the 18th year of Meiji made them dead.
The monument of the flood was erected here in the grounds.
It reads "The left bank was collapsed up the river, around Hirakata on the first of July because of the heavy rain.
The dirty water flowed into Osaka, so almost all part of Osaka area except Uemachidaichi was flooded.
The Nakanoshima area was covered with water two meters high and Temmabashi, Tenjinbashi, Naniwabashi, Chikuzenbashi, Joanbashi and others were broken."
There is a stone monument named "Seiwan" located around the riverbank to the southwest of the shine.
Seiwan was a bay so pure and clear that it was selectively used for tea ceremony by its practioners.
In the 2nd year of Bunkyu(1862) Nanga painter Tanomura and others performed big tea ceremony here for a centennial anniversary of Baisao's death who made an effort to spread Sencha tea ceremony sect.
The monument was erected to commemorate the ceremony.
