The winter battle of the Osaka Castle was fought most fiercely at this field (November, the 19th year of Keicho, 1614).
The area of Shigino Imafuku was a main filed of the battle but in fact the battle on a large scale was not possible.
The old Yamatogawa river was fed by tributaries and the field was not suitable for their main tactics, being covered with deep soils, so that troops could not move around freely, consequently they were obliged to rely on the battle of shooting and sometimes repeated encounter battles on the river bank.
Kimura Shigenari took part for the first time and fought bravely with Goto Matabei.
The battle was not settled decisively. Tokugawa Ieyasu made peace with the Toyotomi clan because being unsuccessful to win the battle and took the coldness of the climate into consideration, he worked out a plan of filling the moat of the castle.
After a brief peace the Toyotomi was defeated in the summer battle.
