| The reclamation works at the mouth
of Osaka Bay were made in the era of Edo
and became active in the years of Genroku. Ichioka newly reclaimed field, which was on the largest scale in Osaka, was constructed by Ichioka Yozaemon and others in the 11th year of Genroku. When the Russian warship came to Osaka in the first year of Ansei(1854), the shogunate made urgent preparation for negotiation to meet the crisis at this site. @ |
