Tenyu was a disciple of Hashimoto Sokichi
who was the father of Dutch studies in Osaka
and a medical doctor. He translated “Kaibozufu”into Japanese and held autopsies and left some of writings on physics, astronomy, mathematics. He practiced not only medical treatment but also opened his private school of Dutch studies named Shishisaijyuku. Ogata Koan was among its students of the school. |
