Shinanobashi Western Painting School was founded in the 13th year of Taisho by artists of Western Painting Koide Narashige, Kunieda Kinzo, Nabei Katsuyuki and others so that fragrant culture of high quality could prevail in Osaka, for Osaka was the birthplace of them.
The School gave distinctive lecture with theory and practice going together and produced professional artists in large numbers.
Later it moved to Nakanoshima in the 6th year of Showa and named Nakanoshima Western Painting School but was closed in the 19th year because of the War.
It contributed a great deal to develop the modern western painting circle in Osaka.
