| Osaka was called the kitchen of the
whole country about its state of prosperity
but suffered a fatal blow to the economy
by the Meiji Restoration. The mood rose high to found the chamber of commerce and industry to develop the economic situation of Osaka and the chamber was opened (Osaka Shoho Kaigisho) in the 11th year of Meiji, August. The economy was improved by the first president Godai Tomoatsu and others owing to their enthusiasm and remarkable economic sensitivity and the foundations of developed Osaka was consolidated. The chamber was renamed Osaka Shoko Kaigisho in the 3rd year of Showa. |
