Shingaku was the educational movement
for ordinary people advocated in Kyoto by
Ishida Baigan(1685〜1744) in the 14th year
of Kyoho(1729). He lectured easily understandable tales intended to give universal moral teaching. Shingaku had great appeal across the country. Meiseisha in Osaka was opened by Baigan's grand disciple, Inoue Soho in the 5th year of Tenmei(1785) and located here until the 13th year of Showa. |
