 Konishi Raizan was born as a son of a medical wholesaler at Hiranomachi, who became a distinguished haiku poet of the Genroku era(1654-1716).
 He started his career as a disciple of Nishiyama Soin and later opened up a field of the stage which Basho attained.
 He lived in a residence named Jumando and made many famous haikus.
 The residence was burned down by the War in the 20th year of Showa.
