The Emperor Nintoku and others are enshrined.
The shrine was located initially in the neighborhood of the Osaka Castle and later was moved here when Hideyoshi founded the castle.
Legend has it that the Emperor Nintoku stood on heights satisfied, taking a view of smoke rising from cooking stoves of the residents around here.
There is a small stone-bridge named Umebashi in the precincts and a river called Umenokawa is running under the bridge, which was said to be the origin of Dotonbori river.
