[ Tukuda ] by bus about 300m to the northeast |
Tukudajima was famous for fishery since early times. Fishermen living there were given various kinds of privileges for their service by Tokugawa Ieyasu (1542-1616) about the Keicho period (1596-1615). Some of them removed to Teppouzucho of Edo in the 7th year of Kanei (1630) and sold sea food boiled down in soy named tukuda-ni associated with their place of birth. This is the beginning of Tukudajima of Tokyo. | |
