Jingukogo and three Gods of Sumiyoshi are
enshrined in this shrine. By an ancient document
this shrine's history dates back to the Tensho
period (157-1591), reconstructed in the Bunroku
period (1592-1595), reconstructed in the
Enpou period (1673-1680), reconstructed in
the 7th year of Houei (1710). At first, this
shrine was named "Kojima hachiman"
which was associated with the old local name
of Kojima, but was named kamitsujinja in
the 44th year of Meiji. The Kamitsu comes
from the name of village which was consolidated
by 8 villages located between the Kanzakigawa
river and the Nakatsugawa river.
There is also the Ebisusha within the same
site of the Kamitsujinja and it is called
Tomi (wealth) Ebisu (the God of wealth),
which is worshipped by many people especially
on the day of festival. |
