The God of Ukanomitamanokami (the God of
food or rice) and the others are enshrined
in this shrine. It is said that the shrine's
history dates back to the 2nd year of Hakuchi
(651), when the capital of the country was
removed to the Naniwa Nagara Toyosaki. The
shrine has a wooden tablet made in the 2nd
year of Kenmu (1335). The Ashikaga and Toyotomi
clan deeply worshipped the Gods of this shrine.
But there are no old documents left about
its history because they were burned down
at the winter battle of Osaka between Toyotomi
and Tokugawa. There used to be a lot of buildings
such as a stage for kaguras (sacred music
and dances) and a hall for emas (dedicated
votive pictures of horse) and the others
but they were burned down to ashes by World
War II..
A jar made in the middle of the Yayoi era
was found at the precinct. |
