| Osaka prefecture was set up in the 1st
year of Meiji and Settsu prefecture was founded
in the following new year by sparing a part
of Osaka prefecture. The location where the
public office was to be settled was
in the Sojenji Baba (Sozenji riding ground)
but the office building was not constructed
and some of the cathedrals of the temple
seem to be used as the office. Three months
later, Settsu prefecture was named Toyosaki
prefecture and it was consolidated by Hyogo
prefecture a few more months later. While
the administrative zone was often changed,
the vast forest situated in and around the
Sozenji Baba and the Nakajimasoja shrine
was cut down recklessly. |
