Oujintenno (the 15th emperor of Japan) and the others 9 were enshrined in the shrine. When the Yodogawa river once over-flooded its banks, the object of worship of Kamo jinja shrine (Kyoto City) drifted ashore. So it was called kamonoshinji (a small shrine of Kamonojinja). It is said that this area is the site of the Ohsumigu shrine transmission by the account of Nihon Shoki (720).
